Carrel triumphs in EPT12 Dublin €10K Single-Day High Roller
The 22-year-old sealed his second six-figure prize in two consecutive days when the top four players cut a deal. Together with his third place prize from the €25k High Roller, Carrel has already won nearly €400k at this festival. Finishing at 4am this morning, Carrel won't get much rest before he'll march back to the tournament room as he made it to Day 2 of the EPT Main Event (which starts at noon).
Carrel started to travel around the live circuit just two years ago but his resumé already includes several excellent results with the biggest coming back in May 2015, when he scooped the EPT11 Grand Final €25k High Roller title and walked away with €1,114,000. He's already amassed $2.2 million in live tournament winnings but has built his reputation in the online realm first. Playing under screen name "Epiphany77", he's been crushing cash games and also has a Sunday Million title under his belt.
The Englishman denied Dominik Nitsche heads-up. The 25-year-old German entered the Single-Day High Roller just a few hours after winning the UKIPT €2k High Roller here in Dublin and came close to winning two tournaments in a row. Nitsche held the lead at the start of the final duel but couldn't finish it off. However, he added another €139,450 to his winnings and with $5.5 million, he's now moved to the top ten in the German all-time money list.
Canadian pair Mark Radoja and Francois Billard both took part in the four-way deal, taking €144,180 and €128,120, respectively.
There were 89 entries to the EPT12 Dublin €10k Single-Day High Roller (66 unique players plus 23 re-entries), creating a €863,300 prize pool. The top thirteen players were paid while Daniel Dvoress bubbled in 14th place.
