Goulder Leads EPT12 Main Event in to Day 4
Two years ago, he fell just shy of an EPT final table, finishing 11th at EPT Deauville. Goulder secured his third EPT Main Event cash today and also added his first Irish flag to his Hendon Mob profile page. He's currently ranked 107th in England's all-time money list with $881k in live tournament winnings.
Goulder's fellow countryman Frank Williams is second in chips with 881,000. Williams, 24, hails from Wolverhampton and his biggest payday to date was at EPT12 Barcelona when he finished fifth in the Estrellas High Roller, for €91,840.
The last six tables remaining - from a starting field of 645 players - feature numerous big name pros including Team PokerStars Pro Luca Pagano, who has been cashing in EPT Main Events since Season 1. Pagano secured his 21st cash today and he's also the only player remaining who has cashed in three EPT Dublin Main Events. The Italian will start Day 4 with 470,000. Twitch star and Team PokerStars Pro Online member Jaime Staples also survived, bagging 241,000.
Three EPT champions are still in contention for the title and €561,900 first prize: EPT11 Grand Final winner Adrian Mateos (631,000), EPT6 Copenhagen champion Anton Wigg (345,000) and PCA 2014 champ Dominik Panka (91,000).
Reigning EPT Player of the Year Dzmitry Urbanovich also made it through to Day 4. The 20-year-old Polish wunderkind is already #1 in his nation's all-time money list, mainly thank to his outstanding results in high rollers. So far, his best EPT Main Event position was 40th at last season's Grand Final.
British pro James Akenhead is back on the European Poker Tour after a two-year break (when he opened his own restaurant in London). He has already cashed twice at this season's EPT Dublin Poker Festival and has now made Day 4 of the Main Event. Bagging up a respectable 626,000, he said: "You know what it's like in poker, you're always on the road, so I started the restaurant to have a more stable life. But it was actually the most unsettled I've ever been! I'm loving being back on the tour, couldn't be happier – and this is my first EPT Main Event cash in Europe in 12 years."
The remaining star-studded EPT12 Dublin Main Event field includes 2014 Irish Open champ Patrick Clarke (500,000), EPT9 Sanremo third place finisher Artem Litvinov (326,000), high roller Nick Petrangelo (326,000), former November Niners Antoine Saout (325,000) and Pierre Neuville (262,000) plus EPT8 Prague runner-up David Boyaciyan (147,000).
