Kanit Leads for EPT12 Dublin €25K High Roller Final Table

Little introduction is needed for Mustapha Kanit, Italy's #1 player in the all-time money list. Here at EPT12 Dublin Poker Festival, the 25-year-old from Ravenna is on pace to add another excellent result to his resumé. He's chip leader for the final table of the €25k High Roller and already guaranteed €65,170.

Kanit very nearly bust yesterday afternoon when he put his tournament life on the line with ace queen and ran into Sam Chartier's aces - however two queens on the board saved the day.

The 2015 SCOOP Main Event champion then built his stack up to 5,460,000 to take a commanding lead for the final table. Kanit has already made one big live final this year, finishing fourth in the PCA 2016 $100k Super High Roller for $596,360.

Finalists Anton Bertilsson and Keith Johnson are both celebrating massive returns on investment having won their seats for the High Roller in super satellites. The former was chip leader at the end of Day 1 but after several hits was facing elimination with eleven players left. The Swede then spiked a three-outer versus Timothy Adams to spin his stack up to 3,850,000. He goes in to the final second in chips.

The final table will also feature English poker wunderkind Charlie Carrel, who's already au fait with how it feels to win an EPT €25k High Roller after triumphing in this event at last season's Grand Final (for a €1,114,000). Carrel is in third place after bagging up 2,755,000.

Chance Kornuth has already made the final table of three $25k High Rollers this year alone – and on three different continents. His first came at the PCA where he finished seventh for $192,780. The American pro then headed to Australia and won the equivalent event at the Aussie Millions for AU$790,560. Now he's celebrating a hat-trick in Europe and will be heading back for the final table in fourth place with 1,310,000.

There were 70 entries to the EPT12 Dublin €25k High Roller (58 unique players + 12 re-entries). In addition to Day 1's 66 entries, four more players joined the field at the beginning of Day 2. The prize pool totaled €1,715,000, with €501,640 reserved for the winner. Nine players are being paid - with 2014 WSOP Main Event champion Martin Jacobson the final table bubble boy, finishing ninth for €49,730. You can follow live coverage on the PokerStars blog.
