Luca defeats his girlfriend Maria to win Eureka6 Rozvadov title

Vamos, vamos Argentina! You couldn't make up the scenario we've seen in the €1,100 Eureka 6 Rozvadov Main Event. Argentinian poker superstar Ivan "Negriin" Luca won the title, coming to the final table as a chip leader and a huge favourite. But what's made the tournament even more remarkable was the fact that Luca had to face his partner Maria Lampropoulos heads-up.

The couple beat a 682-entry field to make it all the way to the "family duel". They cut a deal, kissed and then battled it out for the trophy and additional €5k. Luca was entering the heads-up with the better part of the chips. Lampropoulos took over the lead for a while but the 24-year-old wunderkind managed to fight back and eventually collected a €106,186 prize along with the title and a trophy. Luca becomes the first Argentinian champion in the Eureka Poker Tour Main Event history.

Having made a lot of great results over the past year and a half, Luca has been well-known on both live and online scenes. His live tournament winnings are now just shy of $3 million. Luca is chasing Nacho Barbero for #1 in Argentina's all-time money list, and he closed the gap to less than $25k with his Eureka Rozvadov victory.
Ivan "Negriin" Luca is one of the young sensations on the European tour. In 2015, he established himself among the heavyweights in the EPT High Rollers. This year alone, he's already cashed for more than $930k in live tournaments.

His girlfriend Lampropoulos is currently experiencing her greatest month at the poker tables. She's beaten her previous best result twice in the last two weeks. Tonight, she picked up €95,404 to set her new top mark. Before coming to Eureka Rozvadov, the 36-year-old notched up another runner-up finish in February's WPTN Brussels Main Event worth €68,200.

There were only four playrs from Argentina to enter the Eureka 6 Rozvadov but their performance was nearly supergalactic. While Luca and Lampropoulos made it to the all-Argentinian heads-up, their friend Andres Viola fell just shy of the final table, finishing tenth. The only player representing the "Albiceleste" colors who didn't make the money was Estrellas Barcelona champion Matias Ruzzi.

The first hour of play on the final table brought a seat open festival with five players leaving before even getting warmed in their seats. Austria's Hannes Speiser entered the finale with the shortest stack and departed after the very first hand hand, losing his chips to Ivan Luca. Speiser collected €12,500 for the eighth place.

Few minutes later, Robert Kokoska followed him to the rail. The only Czech finalist was eliminated by Maria Lampropoulos in seventh, earning €18,330. Then it was Luca's turn again as "Negriin" knocked out Mick Heder in sixth place worth €25,340. The crazy action didn't lose the pace and in the blink of an eye, Stoyan Stefanov was also eliminated after running with with pocket fives into the ace-king of David Urban. The Bulgarian added €33,100 to his name, finishing fifth in the Eureka 6 Rozvadov Main Event. Half of the final table seats were left empty within the first fifteen minutes of the Final Day. When the tempo seemed to finally slow down, another bustout followed with Peter Siemund leaving in fourth, taking €41,500. Urban scored a back-to-back knock out to bring the finale down to three, overtaking the chip lead.

After an amazing start, there hadn't been any elimination for the next few hours. Urban was controlling the game with just over half of the tournament chips but the Argentinian couple was resisting relentlessly. Eventually, Urban lost the lead and shoved only to run into Luca's pocket kings. The 26-year-old Slovakian took the biggest prize of his career, banking €54,800 for the third place. Urban then late registered the €60 NL Holdem Event, the festival's last tournament, to chase a silver spade trophy one more time.

The Argentinian couple cut a deal before a start of the remarkable heads-up battle. Ivan Luca got the job done and he's now added Eureka 6 Rozvadov title to his achievements. What a festival it has been for the pair, and for Argentina!
