High stakes poker player and "King of Instagram", millionaire playboy Dan Bilzerian has begun his 328 mile $1.2m prop-bet bike ride through the Mojave desert from the Hollywood Hills in LA to Las Vegas.
The bearded big-shot has 48 hours from his first pedal to complete the challenge, from which he stands to either win or lose $600,000 against hedge fund manager and fellow highstakes poker nut, Bill Perkins.
Bilzerian set off on his challenge at around 8pm Tuesday night (5am Wednesday CET) and is now over halfway through the agreed time allowed.
Along the way, Bilzerian, who is more used to posing semi naked with a bevvy of scantily clad beauties or hollding a large semi-automatic weapon, has received coaching from disgraced former cycling champion, Lance Armstrong.
Fitness fanatic Bilzerian, who was already mightily stacked, told the New York Daily News about his strict regime he was keeping up on the run up to the challenege:
"I eat five egg whites and two yolks, oatmeal, fruit and almond butter. Then I take zinc, vitamin C and probiotics at 1pm. An hour after, I ride in the Red Rock Canyon (outside of Las Vegas) for 4.5 hours. Then, back home, I have an ice bath and an Epsom-salt bath, get a massage, east again, and that's my day. My legs hurt, my achilles is popping, my ass is bruised and I've lost six pounds"
Bilzerian, who also made a side wager with Rick Salomon for his $250,000 G4 plane that he wouldn't die during the challenge (Salomon will pick up the tasty jet if Bilzo kicks the bucket during the challenge!), can be seen in the youtube clip below on his strange looking bicycle in the slipstream of a big white van some 21 hours into the challenge.
