2015 WSOP Underway - Brandon Barnette Wins Employees Event
The 2015 World Series of Poker is currently underway at the Rio All-Suites Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, NV.
Through Thursday four events have kicked off and one bracelet has been awarded.
Brandon Barnette took down Event #1, the $565 Casino Employees Event, on Thursday night to earn the first bracelet of 2015 and $75,704.
Barnette started heads-up play against Greg Seiden with close to a 3:1 chip lead but squandered that lead after a bluff went south.
After his failed bluff, Barnette was left with just four big blinds but found a way to make the comeback and ultimately take the title.
Barnette is a poker supervisor for Pechanga Resort in Temecula, CA. This is his first live tournament cash.
Other events presently running are the $1,500 Omaha Hi-Lo, the $3,000 NL Hold'em Shootout and the $5,000 NL Hold'em. Greg Merson is third in chips with 20 remaining in the $5k NL.
Friday is the first day of the $565 Colossus Event. WSOP officials expect the colossus to set the all-time record for attendance in a single live tournament.
Heading into Friday, reports put the current number registered for the Colossus at 14,000.
