Online High Stakes: Dan "jungleman12" Cates Wins $263.000
It took him 23 unique sessions and 4,300 hands to win that six-figure sum.
The winnings have helped Cates trim his losses on PokerStars this year. The Maryland native is down just over $400,000 on the world’s largest online poker site in 2015. He is up $59,000 on Full Tilt this year. Cates is up roughly $800,000 lifetime on PokerStars and $10.2 million on Full Tilt.
This year could be Cates’ first losing year online since 2009. Here’s a look at his winnings over the past six years playing high-stakes online poker.
2014: $3.43 million
2013: $950,000
2012: $180,000
2011: $1.8 million
2010: $5.5 million
2009: -$450,000
His performance on the computer this year hasn’t come at the best of times. Cates said back in August that he lost $5 million in a single live poker session.
Other big winners from the week include Ben “Sauce123” Sulsky ($142,243), Alex “joiso” Kostritsyn ($127,610), Viktor “Isildur1” Blom ($81,893) and “Educa-p0ker” ($63,428). The big losers on the week were “Colisea” (-$322,162), Ronny “1-ronnyr3” Kaiser (-$251,832), “supernova9” (-$48,170), “1nvoker” (-$45,588) and Phil “RaiseOnce” Ivey (-$43,240).
Blom is still the biggest winner on the year with a month left. The Swede has won $2.17 million. He’s up huge on PokerStars, but has dropped $1.37 million on Full Tilt.
