Atlantic City's Most Expensive Casino Ever To Re-Open This Summer, Owner Says
A $2.4 billion casino in Atlantic City that has been closed since the fall of 2014 is going to re-open in June, its owner said this week.
Florida businessman Glenn Straub, who bought the casino last year for four cents on the dollar, told the Associated Press that part of the property will again be open for business this summer.
He said that dining and hotel rooms will be available, adding that he plans to have a gaming floor, though his license from the state Division of Gaming Enforcement is still pending.

After five 90-minute levels of no-limit hold’em, Sam Soverel leads the way at the end of Day 2 of the WPT L.A. Poker Classic.
At the end of the day, there were just 111 players still alive fighting for the title and first place prize money.

Ladbrokes Posts £43.2 Million Loss for 2015
Ladbrokes, one of the biggest High Street bookmakers in Britain, made a pre-tax loss of £43.2 million last year.
It was the first full-year loss in a decade for Ladbrokes. According to the company, betting tax changes, as well as shop closures and a writedown on some remaining shops and software contributed to the loss.
The figures also include £19.8m in merger costs related to a planned merger with bingo giant Gala Coral, announced last year.

“Poker enthusiast” and widely adored TV presenter Kara Scott has been announced as a new addition to the ambassadorial team at 888poker.
She joins the likes of Dominik Nitsche, Sofia Lovgren, Nicolau Villa-Lobos and Jackie Glazier on the 888 roster.
Her signing was unveiled in a press release issued Tuesday, and Scott gleefully took to her Twitter account to spread the news herself.

Nevada’s 71 poker rooms in January collectively raked $9.5 million, according to figures released Friday by Silver State gaming regulators. The revenue was a 2.85-percent decline compared to January of last year.

Florida Casino Fined $20,000 Over Poker Tournament
A top poker room in the state of Florida was fined $20,000 by the state for alleged misconduct in an August poker tournament that players claim was full of irregularities.
According to the Sun Sentinel, Hialeah Park casino agreed to pay the fine but “neither admits nor denies the violations” that the Division of Pari-Mutuel Wagering uncovered.

Nathan Farnaby is the latest player to be crowned a partypoker Grand Prix Poker Tour (GPPT) champion after he triumphed at St. James' Park, home of English Premier League club Newcastle United. Farnaby scored the victory on Feb. 21 and claimed the $35,000 first-place prize.
